From the Buddhist dictionary: "Bodhichitta is one of the basic concepts of mahayana, literally means "the heart of an awakened mind". In the Tibetan tradition, bodhichitta is divided into absolute and relative. Absolute bodhichitta is an emptiness inseparable from compassion. A relative bodhichitta has two levels: the determination to practice six paramitas and the desire to save all living beings from suffering. According to Buddhists, this state of consciousness cannot be expressed in words.
